This program is a complex multidisciplinary effort that requires coordination of a wide range of management, communication, training, and advisory activities. As a result, it uses a multiple PI (MPI) approach, with five Principal Investigators.
The four Principal Investigators have worked closely together on a range of NIH- and Alzheimer’s Disease Association funded collaborative projects, including the South Texas Alzheimer’s Disease Center and the Alzheimer’s Association’s Global Consortium on Chronic Neuropsychiatric Sequelae of SARS-CoV-2.
As a team, the MPIs have the complementary expertise in clinical neurology, cognitive aging and dementia, neuroepidemiology, neuroimaging, statistical genetics, biomarker development, COVID-19 pathogenesis, and longitudinal cohort studies needed to achieve the goals of the program.
